Jasper Kent was born in Worcestershire in 1968. He attended King Edward's School, Birmingham and went on to study Natural Sciences at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, specialising in physics. It was here that he first became involved in musical theatre, both as a writer and a performer. Since moving to Brighton in the early 1990s, he has appeared in a number of local productions of musicals and operas, both on stage and playing in the orchestra.

As a singer his shows have included tours in London and the South East of The Mikado and Carmen and in the pit, highlights have been Chess and Mack and Mabel. Additionally, he has musically directed shows such as Scrooge and A Slice of Saturday Night, as well as the two showcases of Remember! Remember!, but his chief interest has always been in writing.

In addition to many songs and arrangements, he has co-written the musicals Writer's Cramp and Malvolio's Revenge, along with incidental music for a production of Dennis Potter's Blue Remembered Hills.

In 1996, he teamed up with the two Rob's to write The Promised Land, performed as part of the Jerusalem 3000 festival. Following this success, he was pleased to work as part of the same team to write and develop Remember! Remember!

More recently, Jasper has turned to writing fiction, and has signed a deal with Bantam/Corgi for the publication of the horror novel Twelve, plus an as yet unwritten sequel.
